TB&T Director Honored as 50-Year Banker

Howard R. HackneyAUSTIN, May 11, 2012 - The Texas Bankers Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Texas Bankers Association, honored Howard R. Hackney of Longview with the 50-year Banker Award during a special luncheon held at the 128th Annual TBA Convention in Fort Worth on May 11.  This prestigious award honors bankers with a half century or more of service and dedication to the
banking industry.

Hackney began his career by working summer jobs at banks in Marshall and Dallas while attending college.  After graduating from Southern Methodist University in 1962, he went to work for Republic National Bank in Dallas as a proof operator and then as a management trainee.  He held senior management positions with banks in Houston, Sherman and Longview.

Hackney retired as president of Texas Bank and Trust in 2004, but remains a director and consultant for the bank.  This year, he will complete his final term as a member director of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas.

Serving Texas bankers since 1885, the Texas Bankers Association is the largest and oldest state bankers association in the nation.
