AUSTIN, May 3, 2013 – The Texas Bankers Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Texas Bankers Association, honored Bonnie S. McCary of San Augustine with the 50-Year Banker Award during a special luncheon held at the 129th Annual TBA Convention in San Antonio on May 3. This prestigious award honors bankers with a half century or more of service and dedication to the banking industry.
In 1954, McCary began her career at First National Bank, San Augustine, as a teller. In 1963, following a short stay at home with her children, McCary joined Commercial State Bank, San Augustine, which became Texas Bank and Trust in 2003. She currently serves as Administrative Officer and Lobby Representative at TB&T.
McCary’s favorite part of working in banking is meeting new people and helping customers with their needs. She advises young bankers to treat everyone in the same manner, no matter how much or little is in their balance account.
Serving Texas bankers since 1885, the Texas Bankers Association is the largest and oldest state bankers association in the nation.
