Victorian Memories- Jan Statman’s Watercolors of Historic Longview

In a rare change from the large abstract paintings for which she is best known, artist Jan Statman has completed a series of 16 special watercolor paintings and collage pieces based on images of Historic Longview. The exhibit theme is "What Is Now and What Was Then, and What Will Never Be Again." It will be seen at the Texas Bank and Trust. The public is invited to attend A Meet and Greet reception will be held during Longview’s Artwalk on April 4, with the exhibit continuing through April 12.

These paintings are not strict architectural renderings. They are artistic images that interpret the sense and sensation of times gone by. Viewers can imagine the ways these buildings changed and inspired the people who shared them.

The Gregg County Courthouse, Old Northcutt House, Finch Family Home, Campbell House, Harrison House, Gregg County Courthouse, Clendennon/Jackson House and Old Judson Post Office are among the more easily recognized places in the exhibit. Additional paintings and collages were inspired by Victorian Memories.

Our main bank lobby will be open from 5:00-8:00 PM on April 4, 2013
