Texas Bank and Trust celebrates the thirty-fifth anniversary of Student Board of Directors, recognizing outstanding high school seniors who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to community service. We are proud to introduce the following members of the 2012-2013 Student Board.
Jacob Spitzer, son of Trish and Steve Spitzer, is a senior at Grace Community School where he is a member of the National Honor Society. He is the captain for both the varsity football and varsity baseball teams and serves on the football leadership council. Jacob also participates in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) as an academic team member. He is a member of Boy Scouts of America and has attained the rank of Eagle Scout. Jacob is a member of Grace Community Church where he is active in his youth group. He hopes to attend college at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, as a pre-med student. Jacob’s future career goal is to become an orthopedic surgeon. His interests include science and medicine.
Kiara Ross is a senior at John Tyler High School where she is a member of the National Honor Society and treasurer for student council. She is the head drum major for the JTHS Big Blue Marching Band, plays on the softball team, and is also a member of Health Occupation Students of America. She serves in the community as an East Texas Medical Center junior volunteer and a Trinity Mother Frances All STARS volunteer. Kiara also volunteers for the East Texas Food Bank and the Boys and Girls Club. She is a member of St. Louis Baptist Church and participates in the music ministry and the teen summit ministry. She also serves with the children’s church and helps with vacation bible school. Kiara plans to attend Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, and study psychology. She is the daughter of Terri Johnson and Richard Ross.
Javonte Johnson is a senior at John Tyler High School and is the son of Lawanda and Gregory Johnson. He serves as secretary for the National Honor Society and as vice president for student council. Javonte is a drum major for the JTHS Big Blue Marching Band and head saxophone section leader. He has received recognition at all-region and state solo and ensemble. Javonte is involved in Leadership of East Texas, the Student Health Advisory Council, Future Business Leaders of America, and Health Occupation Student Association. He is also a representative for the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards. Javonte is active in his community and volunteers for Trinity Mother Frances, East Texas Medical Center, Discovery Science Place, and Soup Kitchen. He plans to major in biology at The University of Texas at Austin with a career goal to become a doctor of dental medicine.
