Texas Bank and Trust celebrates the thirty-fifth anniversary of Student Board of Directors, recognizing outstanding high school seniors who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to community service. We are proud to introduce the following members of the 2012-2013 Student Board.
Ana Serratos, daughter of Salud and Agapito Serratos, is a senior at John Tyler High School. She serves as the treasurer of the National Honor Society and is the vice president of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). Ana also serves as the secretary of the A.M.I.G.O.S. club and is a member of student council, the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) club, and the National Art Honor Society. She is active in her community and volunteers for the Boys and Girls Club, Salvation Army, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and Habitat for Humanity. Ana was chosen as one of two students to represent John Tyler at the Rotary Youth Leadership Award camp through the Rotary Club. She is an active member of her church and serves as secretary of the youth group. Ana plans to attend college at The University of Texas at Austin.
Whitney Bane is a senior at Grace Community School. She serves as the Grace Ashira concert choir secretary and is the captain for the Lady Cougar soccer team. Whitney is also on the Cougarettes drill team and track team. She is a member of First Baptist Church of Tyler and is active in both their youth group and youth choir. Whitney also participates in teaching the four-and five-year-old Sunday school class, church camps, and mission trips. She plans to major in early childhood education at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Whitney’s career goal is to finish her last year in college with hopes of becoming a second grade teacher. Her hobbies and interests include spending time at the lake, running, and photography. Whitney is the daughter of Jennifer and Phil Bane.
Catherine Rook, daughter of Christina and Chad Rook, is a senior at Grace Community School. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Chapel team. Catherine participates on the varsity basketball, golf, and track and field teams. She was among a select group of young leaders from Grace that traveled to Siegen, Germany, to work with a Haupschule school. A Haupschule school is a five-year upper elementary school that prepares students for vocational school and their future entry into the world of work. Catherine volunteers for her community at Pine Cove Christian Camp and for the Salvation Army. She is an active member in her church and youth group. Catherine plans to attend Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, with a long-term career goal of becoming a nurse at St. Jude’s Medical Hospital for cancer patients. Her hobbies and interests include playing sports and reading.
