This academic year, Texas Bank and Trust celebrates its third anniversary of the Student Board of Directors. This group of outstanding high school seniors has demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to community service. We are proud to introduce the following 2011-2012 Student Board members:
GRANT CHILDRESS is a senior at Grace Community School. He is actively involved in the school sports program and is a member of the basketball and track teams. Grant has excelled on the football field, receiving Freshman of the Year-district, was all-district his sophmore year, and as a junior he was all-district and second team all-state. He is undecided on his college choice at this time but plans to pursue a business degree. He would also like continue his football career while attending college. Grant is a member of Grace Community Church and served on a mission trip to New Mexico. He is the son of Darla and Randy Childress.
BRENNAN TAYLOR, son of Lezlie and Galen Taylor, will graduate from Grace Community School. Brennan is a member of the National Honor Society and serves as a student government representative. He is a member of the cross-country and basketball teams and participates in drama and choir. Grant is also a member of the academic team and serves on the chapel leadership team. He plans to major in aerospace engineering at the United States Air Force Academy. His future goals include becoming a fighter pilot and engineering research development. Grant’s interests and hobbies include water-skiing, reading, and spending time with family.
COLE PAXSON is a senior at Robert E. Lee High School and is a member of the National Honor Society and the Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society. He participates in UIL academics for math, science, number sense, and computer applications. Cole plays football for the Red Raiders and is on the powerlifting team. He is a member of the school chamber orchestra where he serves as librarian, and is also a cellist with the Tyler Youth Orchestra. Cole is undecided on his college choice at this time, but he would like “to make a groundbreaking impact in his field of choice and turn it into a Fortune 500 company.” Cole is the son of Natalie and Michael Paxson.
RUTH RUVALCABA, daughter of Claudia and Cristino Ruvalcaba, is a senior at Bishop Thomas K. Gorman Regional Catholic School. Ruth is active in the school sports program where she plays on the soccer team and runs for both the track and cross-country teams. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the biology club and the pro-life club, and serves as the Spanish club president. Ruth is an ambassador for the school and participates in the Every 15 Minutes program. She received the Rotary Youth Leadership Award in 2011. Ruth plans to attend The University of Texas at Austin and major in political science.
