Each year, Azleway, a faith-based, non-profit foster care organization, brings hope and opportunity to more than 1,000 Texas children at risk and in crisis. Their mission is to provide a home, school, and treatment opportunities with intervention and prevention strategies to children and their families. Through Azleway’s wide range of services, children are nurtured as they grow into productive members of society.

On Saturday, October 13, Azleway will hold its Fourth Annual Texas Equestrian Gala at Texas Rose Horse Park in Tyler. Millette Stroud is serving as co-chair for this annual fundraiser and is excited to invite the community to this unique equestrian event that promises to provide great fun and fierce competition, while raising funds for Azleway programs that allow at-risk children an opportunity to recover, grow, learn, and achieve in a loving and committed atmosphere.

The gala includes a wine and artisan cheese tasting with offerings from several Texas wineries, along with live and silent auctions, catering by Villa Montez, and music by Scotty G.

The Grand Prix Show Jumping horse event will also be returning again this year. Grand Prix jumping is an English riding equestrian event requiring absolute cooperation and teamwork between horse and rider.

In addition to her volunteer commitment to Azleway, Mrs. Stroud is a member of the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce where she serves on the medical committee and has served as a member of the Contact Club.  She is also a board member for the Smith County chapter of the American Red Cross and a family advocate for Habitat for Humanity. Mrs. Stroud is a graduate of Leadership Tyler.

“I have been blessed and I want to give back to my community,” Mrs. Stroud said. “My passion is helping children and organizations that aid people who find themselves in situations they cannot control.”

Mrs. Stroud is a native Tylerite, now residing in the Whitehouse area. She and her husband, Chris, have been married for seven years and are the parents of Blake and Bradley Bishop and Colby and Dalton Stroud. Mrs. Stroud is a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and attended Tyler Junior College. She is employed with BancorpSouth as a vice president. The Strouds are members of Rose Heights Church.

“Tyler is an extremely giving and caring community. I continue to be impressed by the number of services available and the way organizations in our community come together to help those less fortunate,” Mrs. Stroud said.
