This academic year, Texas Bank and Trust celebrates its fourth anniversary of the Student Board of Directors. This group of outstanding high school seniors has demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to community service. We are proud to introduce the following members of the 2012-2013 Student Board.
William Fernandez is a senior at Bishop Thomas K. Gorman Regional Catholic School. He is a member of the National Honor Society, the National Society of High School Scholars, is a student ambassador, and participated in the National Youth Leadership Conference. William is the founder of the Latin club and served as club president and is involved in music ministry. He is also on the track team and captain of the football team. William plans to attend Rice University or Texas A&M University and major in business administration/finance/economics. He hopes to someday start his own stock brokerage firm. William is the son of Judy Fernandez and Dr. Luis Fernandez.
Kathryn Boylan, daughter of Dr. Christopher and Brenda Boylan, is a senior at Grace Community School. She is first violinist for the varsity orchestra, advancing to all region and state level, and is a member of the Junior Symphony League of Tyler. Kathryn is on the school varsity swim team and was awarded most valuable player. She is also a member of the National Honor Society. Kathryn plans to study pre-med and possibly specialize in dermatology, but is undecided on her college choice at this time. She is a volunteer for the Salvation Army and the Bethesda Health Clinic.
Gene Lewis is a senior at Robert E. Lee High School where he serves as president of both the National Honor Society and the Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society. Gene is Key Club vice president and University Interscholastic League (UIL) computer science team captain, which placed first in district last year. He plays guitar in the REL Jazz Band and was Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) all region in 2011 and 2012. Gene is an Eagle Scout and attended the Boy Scouts of America National Youth Leadership and National Advanced Youth Leadership training. He plans to study biology, computer science, or electrical engineering at either the Massachusetts Institute of Technology or Stanford University. Gene is the son of Narda Lewis and Robert Lewis.
