Celebrating their silver anniversary, the American Cancer Society (ACS), alongside local volunteers, will host the 25th Annual Tyler Cattle Baron’s Gala, Lonestar Legacy, on Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m., June 9, at the Wilson Ranch in Arp. Proceeds raised during this fun-filled evening provide funds for life-saving research, patient services and advocacy, and preventative education to our communities. The event includes both a live and silent auction, casino, midway games, and special musical performances by The Bellamy Brothers and the Eli Young Band.
Chalease Denson is serving as co-chair with Heather Pickett and Holly Burke for this annual fundraiser. A long-time Cattle Baron’s volunteer, Mrs. Denson has helped make the Tyler Gala a signature event for all of East Texas.
“The Gala has something to offer everyone,” Mrs. Denson said. “From the amazing entertainment to the auctions and games, and the Texas cuisine provided by the well-known chef Don Strange, this is an event that you don’t want to miss. There will also be a chance drawing for the Cattle Baron’s 25th Anniversary Edition 2012 GMC 1500 Crew Cab donated by Hall Buick Pontiac GMC, and an amethyst, yellow sapphire, and gold pendant donated by Susan Robinson Jewelry.”
As an active community volunteer, Mrs. Denson is a member of the Junior League of Tyler, Inc. and serves as the financial vice president. She is also a member of the Women’s Symphony League of Tyler and the Andy Woods Elementary Parent Teacher Association where she has served as the Spirit Gear Chairman for three years.
“Volunteerism has given me a wonderful opportunity to teach my daughters the importance of community service and to help them realize how what we do for others enriches the lives of those we serve. I believe in always serving with a servant’s heart and never forgetting that through service, the Lord is able to accomplish many of His purposes here on earth,” Mrs. Denson said.
Born in Tyler, Mrs. Denson is a lifelong resident with the exception of the four years she attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where she earned her bachelor of science degree in special education. She is a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School. Mrs. Denson and her husband, Matt, have been married for 15 years and are the parents of Taylor Elizabeth, 14, and Madison Ann, 11. Mrs. Denson is a special education teacher at Robert E. Lee High School. She and her family are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Mrs. Denson said, “I have always loved Tyler and I am always grateful to my parents, Ramona and Reed Franklin, for raising me to serve others and for the importance of service that I have learned from my church.”
