This academic year, Texas Bank and Trust celebrates its third anniversary of the Student Board of Directors. This group of outstanding high school seniors has demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to community service. We are proud to introduce the following 2011-2012 Student Board members:
REDIS JONES is a senior at John Tyler High School and is a member of the National Honor Society and student council. He was nominated for the respected American Legion Texas Boys State, which promotes democratic management principles for tomorrow’s leaders, and he attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Camp, a program designed to enhance personal development, leadership skills, and good citizenship. Redis is a member of the Lions varsity basketball and track teams. He is undecided on his college choice at this time but does plan to pursue an education and career in the medical field. Redis enjoys reading and he is the grandson of Mamie Hendrix.
OLIVIA MOHARER will graduate from Grace Community School. She is a member of the National Honor Society, participates in student government, and is president of student affairs. Olivia was selected to attend the Student Leadership University conference, held in Orlando, Florida, and used skills she acquired there to organize and direct a school-wide, student-led summer Bible study. As an athlete, she serves as captain of the girls varsity basketball team. Olivia plans to study pre-med at Texas A&M University with hopes of becoming a surgeon. Her interests and hobbies include travel, sports, and spending time with friends. Olivia is the daughter of Marilyn and Jamal Moharer.
KATIE NELSON, daughter of Molly and Brett Nelson, is a senior at Robert E. Lee High School. She serves as senior class president and is a member of the student senate, the Young Republicans, and the National Honor Society. Katie plays on the REL girls soccer team and is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She has also been involved as co-chair of Pantry Raid and Keep Campus Beautiful. Katie is a member of the Junior Symphony League and has received the Windsor Distinguished Service Award. She plans to earn a business degree and one day open her own business. Katie was selected by her fellow Texas Bank and Trust Student Board of Director members to serve as student board secretary for this school year.
MARY KATE ROBERTSON is a senior at Bishop Thomas K. Gorman Regional Catholic School. She is active in the school sports program as a member of the varsity volleyball, soccer, and golf teams. Mary Kate is a member of both the biology and pre-med clubs, and she serves as a student ambassador for the school. She helped organize and lead a student body presentation on the dangers of texting while driving and was one of two emcees for the program. Mary Kate plans to study nursing at either Texas A&M University or Texas Christian University. Her interests and hobbies include reading, going to the movies, spending time with family and friends, and having fun at Lake Palestine. Mary Kate is the daughter of Anne and Brad Robertson.
