On September 16, Bethesda Health Clinic will celebrate its eighth year of service to Smith County with The Bethesda Birthday Bash and Gala to be held at Villa di Felicita in Tyler. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be an evening of fellowship and fun with local celebrities auctioning off their personally decorated birthday cakes, a premier silent auction, and an exciting live auction. All proceeds from this event will directly benefit Bethesda Health Clinic, a faith-based clinic dedicated to living out the biblical and historical commission of the church. Its purpose is to care for those in need by providing affordable, high quality healthcare for the working uninsured of Smith County through dedicated volunteers and staff.
Ann Hossley is serving as events chairman this year for the Bethesda Alliance, a fairly new organization whose mission is to be a fundraising and volunteer base for Bethesda Health Clinic. Alongside her committee, Mrs. Hossely is working behind the scenes to ensure a successful Bethesda Birthday Bash and Gala fundraiser. She has also served as the secretary of the Bethesda Alliance and as the vice president of membership.
“I have always loved doing for the community. Most of my past volunteer work was done for our children in organizations such as PTA and the youth ministry at our church. Now that I am retired, I wanted to find a volunteer opportunity where I felt I could do the most good. I feel that Bethesda Alliance is where I belong, and I love that the clinic serves the whole person, works with community churches, and is doing God’s work,” Mrs. Hossley said.
In addition to her volunteer service for the Bethesda Alliance, Mrs. Hossley serves as the Eucharistic minister for St. Paul’s Chapel. She is a member of the Variety Club of Hideaway Lake where she volunteered as the program chairman for two years. Mrs. Hossley is an academic student alumni recruiter for Mississippi State University. She is a past member of the 3 Lakes Garden Club at Hideaway Lake where she served as vice president, and has been a member of Keep Hideaway Beautiful.
Born in Philadelphia, Mississippi, Mrs. Hossley has lived in the Hideaway Lake community for 11 years. She and her husband, Danny, have been married 47 years. They are the parents of Allen Hossley and his wife, Jill; Kristie King and her husband, Eric; and John Hossley and his wife, Erin. They are the grandparents of six grandchildren. Mrs. Hossley graduated from Philadelphia High School in Philadelphia, Mississippi. She earned her college degree from Belhaven University and Mississippi State University.
“We chose to move to the Tyler area because we enjoy its small-town atmosphere and the large-city amenities. But, the best part of living here is being near three of our grandchildren. I find that volunteering in Tyler is very enjoyable because the community is very giving in so many ways,” Mrs. Hossley said.
