Texas Bank and Trust celebrates the thirty-sixth anniversary of Student Board of Directors, recognizing outstanding high school seniors who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to community service. We are proud to introduce the following members of the 2013-2014 Student Board.
Curtis Riley is a senior at All Saints Episcopal School where he is a member of both the Green Club and Spanish Club. He is involved in the Fine Arts program at All Saints as a member of the Art Club and was selected as the Best Beginning Sculptor-Art 3D. Curtis has competed in the Visual Art Scholastic Event and won award recognition at the district level. He is a member of the Tyler Junior Symphony League and a community volunteer for the American Cancer Society and Bethesda Health Clinic. Curtis plans to major in either business or engineering at Texas A&M University. His interests and hobbies include travel to foreign countries, safari hunting, riding dirt bikes, and attending car shows. Curtis is the son of Andrea and Steve Riley.
Brenda Tarango, daughter of Elida and Felipe Tarango, is a senior at John Tyler High School. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Club. Brenda is also involved in Leadership EASTEXAS and the Amigo’s Club, and recently helped organize a community blood drive as a member of the Carter Bloodcare Club. She has also volunteered for the Salvation Army Family Store, the Boys and Girls Club of East Texas, and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure through her school organizations. Brenda plans to attend Stephen F. Austin State University and major in accounting, and then continue her studies to earn her master’s degree. Her hobbies and interests include volunteer work and spending time with family and friends.
Steven McKnight will graduate from Bishop Thomas K. Gorman Regional Catholic School in the spring. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the Gorman Ambassador Program, serves as chief operation officer of the student council, and is senior leader of the Gorman Fan Club. Steven is co-captain of the cross country and track teams and has advanced to the state level for Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) with both the academic and art teams. He is a recipient of the Bishop Gorman Christus Award and the Rotary Young Leaders Award and, as a member of the Boy Scouts of America, has attained the rank of Eagle Scout. Steven plans to study political science at Texas A&M University and would like to serve the United States as an overseas diplomat. He is the son of Dr. Keith and Paula McKnight.
