Texas Bank and Trust celebrates the thirty-sixth anniversary of Student Board of Directors, recognizing outstanding high school seniors who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to community service. We are proud to introduce the following members of the 2013-2014 Student Board.
Michael Fedell is a senior at Grace Community where he is a member of the National Honor Society. He serves as student government financial officer and as student body president. Michael was a Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools state finalist in calculator applications and science during his junior year. He is also active in the Cougar sports program, playing on both the football and golf teams. Michael is a member of the Boy Scouts of America and has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He plans to major in biomedical engineering at Yale University and then attend medical school, with a career goal of a practice in anesthesiology and research medicine. Michael was elected to serve as the Student Board of Directors chairman for this school year. He is the son of Ann and Randy Fedell.
Chatammia Washington, daughter of Brandie McKenzie, is a senior at John Tyler High School. She is a member of the National Honor Society and serves as president of Leadership East Texas, a program that provides student workshops that focus on community issues, leadership skills, and community service. Chatammia is also a member of the Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) and the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) organization. She serves with the John Tyler Color Guard and has also been a member of the pom squad. Chatammia is a volunteer for the East Texas Food Bank, the Salvation Army, and Carter Bloodcare. She plans to attend the University of North Texas and study nursing, with a long-term career goal of earning her master’s degree and helping people as a registered nurse.
Daniel Zandstra is a senior at Grace Community School and is the son of Lynelle and Mario Zandstra. He is active in the fine arts programs at Grace as a member of both the drumline and the award-winning choir. Daniel performs with the worship band and sings in the church select choir as well. He is also a drama student and had a lead role as the cowardly lion in the Wizard of Oz and played John Darling in the school production of Peter Pan. Daniel plays for the Cougar varsity tennis team and is a member of the cross-country team. He is active in Young Life, a Christian ministry for high school students and serves as a youth worship leader for both the school and church. Daniel is a Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) recipient. He plans to attend Baylor University and major in engineering, with a future career goal of working as a mechanical engineer for a Fortune 500 company.
