Texas Bank and Trust celebrates the thirty-sixth anniversary of Student Board of Directors, recognizing outstanding high school seniors who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to community service. We are proud to introduce the following members of the 2013-2014 Student Board.
Madison Garcia, daughter of Beth and Joe Garcia, is a senior at Pine Tree High School. She serves as band captain with The Pride and is a majorette on the auxiliary line. Madison has qualified for the University Interscholastic League in both solo and ensemble and twirling. As a member of the Pine Tree Leadership Team, Madison has volunteered with many school and community projects that include, Coats for Kids, Relay for Life, Red Ribbon Week, Pasta for Pennies, and the canned food drive. She is active in the youth program at Greggton United Methodist Church and serves as a member of the Executive Council and the Worship Committee. Madison plans to major in history at Texas A&M University Commerce and would like to someday be a professor specializing in the history of human rights.
Tanner Thompson is a senior at Longview High School where he is a member of Interact. This service club assists at numerous school activities and provides volunteer service for area non-profit and community organizations, including the Hiway 80 Rescue Mission. Tanner has been involved in the LOBO sports program as a member of the Longview swim team. He has also received honorable mention recognition in the annual Laws of Life essay contest. Tanner hopes to earn a business degree at Texas A&M University with a future career goal of owning his own business, possibly in the area of real estate. His interests and hobbies include fishing and hunting, working out, and spending time with friends. He is the son of Alice and Chad Thompson.
Alexandra Furtney is a senior at Longview High School and the daughter of Mary Jo and Mike Furtney. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Z-Club. Alexandra serves as band lieutenant and plays the flute with the Big Green Marching Machine. She has advanced to University Interscholastic League area level and achieved first division at state with the flute. Alexandra also performs with the East Texas Symphonic Band. She is a member of Future Farmers of America (FFA) where she served as the Longview chapter secretary during her junior year, and also won Reserve State Champion in the FFA quiz contest. Alexandra would like to attend Texas A&M University and obtain her degree as a registered nurse in pursuit of becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.
