This academic year, Texas Bank and Trust celebrates the thirty-fourth anniversary of the Student Board of Directors, a group of outstanding high school seniors who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to community service. We are proud to introduce the following 2011-2012 Student Board members:
SCOTT BYRD, son of Diane and William Byrd, is a senior at Longview High School. He is a member of the National Honor Society and is an International Baccalaureate student. Scott is also a member of the Interact Club and the Spanish Club and he serves as class secretary and as STUCO president. He is active in the sports program at LHS and is on the football, baseball, and power-lifting teams. Scott is undecided on his college choice at this time. As a member of First Presbyterian Church, Scott is involved in the youth program, goes on mission trips, and volunteers at Newgate Ministries. He has attained the rank of Eagle Scout.
AARON BRASHEAR is a senior at Longview High School where he is a member of the National Honor Society and serves as an officer for the Interact Club. He was selected during his junior year to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy and was also selected for the school academic all-state team. Aaron plays football for the Lobos and was picked as second team all-district linebacker in 11-5A.
He plans to attend The University of Texas at Austin and possibly major in engineering or physics. Aaron is active in the youth program at First United Methodist Church. He enjoys sports and spending time with family and friends. Aaron is the son of Melanie and Joe Brashear.
SARAH KONVALIN will graduate from Longview High School this spring. She is an International Baccalaureate student and a member of the National Honor Society. Sarah plays the french horn in the Lobo Band and is a band section leader. She plans to major in music performance at the University of North Texas. Her future goals include becoming a professional horn player with a major symphony orchestra and teaching private horn lessons. Sarah attends First Presbyterian Church and participates in the youth group and youth band, sings with the choir, and does summer mission trips. She is the daughter of Leslie and Tim Konvalin.
NOËL WATTS, daughter of Rosalyn and Scott Watts, is a senior at Longview High School. She is an award-winning varsity cheerleader for the Lobos and she serves as secretary for Z-Club. Noël plans to attend Texas Christian University and major in business marketing with a minor in Spanish. Her future goals include completing her undergraduate degree and to then pursue her master’s degree. Noël is an active member of New Vision Christian Church’s youth group and served the group as president. Her interests and hobbies include cheerleading and reading.
