This academic year, Texas Bank and Trust celebrates the thirty-fourth anniversary of the Student Board of Directors, a group of outstanding high school seniors who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to community service. We are proud to introduce the following 2011-2012 Student Board members:
CONNOR BARBE is a senior at Longview High School and is the son of Keely and John Barbe. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the Interact Club, and is an International Baccalaureate student. Connor spent time in Japan last summer as a Rotary Youth Exchange Student. He is an accomplished golfer on the varsity golf team at LHS and also plays on the Northern Texas Junior PGA Golf Tour. Connor plans to attend the University of Arkansas and major in communication or business and then obtain a law degree from Baylor University. He has been an acolyte at Trinity Episcopal Church since the sixth grade and Connor enjoys fishing, hunting, and hanging out with friends.
HANNAH ROBEY will graduate from Pine Tree High School where she is on the math/science team and is a member of the National Honor Society. Hannah is co-captain of both the varsity soccer and varsity volleyball teams, and is also on the PTHS varsity cross-country and varsity track teams. She has signed to play volleyball at Tyler Junior College and future plans include a degree in mathematics from Texas A&M University or Ouachita Baptist University. Hannah hopes to someday teach math and coach. She is active in the youth ministry and youth choir/ensemble at Oakland Heights Baptist Church. Hannah is the daughter of Deb and Sam Robey.
DAHYUN (Michelle) AHN is a senior at Trinity School of Texas and is the daughter of Hyesoon Ryu and Jung Hyun Ahn of South Korea. Michelle serves as treasurer for both Z-Club and the National Honor Society, and is a Student Council representative. She is also a member of the Spanish and history clubs. Michelle plans to obtain a degree in psychology at The University of Texas at Austin and become a counselor. Her gift of being bi-lingual offers her the opportunity to be a translator for the International Association of Athletics Federations. As an active community volunteer, Michelle lends her time to organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Hope’s Closet, and the city-wide Thanksgiving food drive.
SYDNI BARNHART, daughter of Lisa Barnhart and Scott Barnhart, is a senior at Longview High School where she serves as a lieutenant for the Viewettes. Sydni is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, both the Spanish and science clubs, and is an International Baccalaureate student. She is also a recipient of the Rotary Youth Leadership Award. Sydni plans to attend Colorado State University and major in biomedical engineering with a future goal of attending medical school. She competes in triathlons and has completed the Dallas White Rock Half-Marathon twice. Sydni is an active member at the Vineyard Church of Tyler where she helps teach Sunday school.
