“My philosophy on volunteerism can be summed up by this quote from Helen Dyer, ‘Volunteerism is the voice of the people put into action.  These actions shape and mold the present into a future of which we can all be proud,’ ” Holly Forbes said.

As an active volunteer, Mrs. Forbes dedicates her time to community development, improving the quality of life, and supporting the arts throughout East Texas.  She is a board member and serves as scholarship chair for Longview 2020 Forum.  Mrs. Forbes is also on the Mainstreet advisory board and promotions committee.  She serves on the Longview Museum of Fine Arts advisory board, is a sustainer with the Junior League of Longview, and volunteers for Artwalk Longview.  Mrs. Forbes is also a volunteer for the backpack program at Asbury House Child Enrichment Center.

With her eldest daughter, Abby, 20, attending Baylor University, Mrs. Forbes serves as the Longview Chapter President for the Baylor Parents League.  Her youngest daughter, Bonnie, 16, is a student at Longview High School where Mrs. Forbes is a member of the Longview High School Parent Teacher Organization and serves as vice president for the school’s Soccer Booster Club.

Born in Ft. Worth, Texas, Mrs. Forbes has lived in Longview for 25 years.  She graduated from Permian High School in Odessa, Texas, and earned her bachelor of fine arts degree in communication design from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.  Mrs. Forbes is a member of the Baylor Alumni Association.  She is partner/co-owner of forbes&butler visual communications.  Mrs. Forbes and her husband, Scott, have been married 26 years. The Forbes family attends First Baptist Church Longview, where Mrs. Forbes serves on the communications committee.

“Longview is big enough to offer the educational, cultural, and business opportunities that my husband and I want for our children and ourselves, and at the same time, small enough to be a town where you can really get to know your neighbors,” Mrs. Forbes said.  “It is because of these qualities that I volunteer with projects I feel will ensure that our community continues to grow, prosper, and offer innovative opportunities for the people that choose to live here.
