Buckner Children and Family Services is a ministry that adheres to Christian principles to meet the needs of orphans, at risk children and families, who need love, safety, and support. Through their innovative and determined methods, Buckner ensures every person they serve has the opportunity to succeed.
Justin Reeves also believes in this mission, and has found that the values of Buckner and its community activities to be a great asset to our community and a perfect place to volunteer. Mr. Reeves has been involved with Buckner for the past five years, including serving on a mission trip to Guatemala for the Buckner Shoes for Orphans Souls, and through his family’s support of the organization as board members and avid participants in the annual Sporting Clays events.
As a volunteer for Buckner, Justin actively participates in the upcoming 13th Annual Sporting Clays Challenge himself. The largest fundraising event for Buckner, The Sporting Clays Challenge will begin on Thursday, July 12 with a Junior Tournament and continue Friday, July 13, with the Twilight Event, followed by a dinner and live auction. The final day will be Saturday, July 14, with the Early Riser Event, accompanied by a luncheon and live auction. With more than 700 sponsored shooters signed up for this year’s event, Buckner hopes to reach its goal of raising more than $150,000. The monies raised from the annual event will fund, in part, Buckner's contributions to the Summer Feeding Program, a collaboration with the East Texas Food Bank, and School Supply Train, a collaboration with the Junior League of Longview.
In addition to his volunteer service with Buckner, Mr. Reeves is also involved with Texas Food and Fuel Association Board of Directors, the HiWay 80 Rescue Mission, and New Beginnings Baptist Church as an active member and Life Group leader.
Mr. Reeves’s philosophy of volunteerism stems from his family who has shown him the value of loving and serving others in the community. “They have taught me that true joy comes in giving your life to Christ and sharing the things He blesses you with, whether it’s time, money, or any other blessing, with those around you,” Mr. Reeves said.
Originally from Longview, Texas, Mr. Reeves graduated from Longview High School and continued his studies in Business Management at Baylor and Texas Tech University. He has been a part of the Longview community for 27 years and is the Chief Operating Officer for Reeves Oil Company. Mr. Reeves is engaged to Lauren Webb and has two dogs, Jovie and Lexi. Mr. Reeves and his fiancée are members of New Beginnings Baptist Church.
