Let your imagination take flight to “Neverland” as you sit back and enjoy this year’s Longview Ballet Theater (LBT) production of Peter Pan. This Christmas, J.M. Barrie’s classic fairytale of the mischievous boy who can fly will come to life December 16, 17, and 18 at the S.E. Belcher, Jr. Chapel and Performance Center on the campus of LeTourneau University.
LBT’s adaptation of the original book brings together a talented local cast of more than 40 and 12 professional guest dancers to stage an incredible high-flying production. Among the local talent will be a dedicated corps of LBT “dads” who will portray members of Captain Hook’s pirate crew. One noted dad, returning to the stage from a successful role as a party guest in last season’s The Nutcracker, will be LBT advisory board member and local physician, Frank Tibiletti. Promoting the arts, whether as a performer or as an advisor, is just one of the many ways Dr. Tibiletti gives unselfishly of his time to the Longview community.
Despite a demanding workload as a respected obstetrician-gynecologist, which includes serving as Chief of Obstetrics - Gynecology and Pediatrics at Longview Regional Medical Center, Dr. Tibiletti dedicates countless hours to working with area youth through the arts and education. He has found that, in doing so, the time spent helping others has become a shared experience with his family.
“The best thing for me about volunteering is the time I am able to spend with my beautiful wife and my four wonderful girls,” Dr. Tibiletti said. “From the day we arrived in Longview to the present, we have all spent countless hours working on one project or another together making great family memories, and hopefully, making our community just a little better in the process.”
Guiding Dr. Tibiletti’s volunteerism spirit is an enduring principle found in Luke 12:48, “of those to whom much is given, much is expected.”
“I have been so blessed in my life that I feel compelled to share those blessings,” he said. “Even if it’s something as seemingly small as a kind word or a smile, or a laugh shared with someone.”
In addition to serving on the LBT advisory board, Dr. Tibiletti has served as a member of Longview High School Band Boosters, as a volunteer with the Longview High School Band Camp, and as an active parent volunteer at his daughters’ schools.
Dr. Tibiletti was born in Victoria, Texas, and has been a resident of Longview for 20 years. He earned his bachelor’s degree at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, attended the University of Texas at Austin for graduate studies, and Texas Tech University Medical School, where he completed his residency. Dr. Tibiletti and his wife, Laurie, have been married 26 years and have four daughters, Hannah, Emma, Olivia, and Sophia. The Tibiletti family attends St. Anthony’s Catholic Church where Dr. Tibiletti serves a member of the Knights of Columbus.
“(In Longview) we can all participate, because so many great organizations are happy to find a place for anyone with an interest in volunteering,” Dr. Tibiletti said. “I could not ask for a better place to have raised my family.”
