This academic year, Texas Bank and Trust celebrates the thirty-fourth anniversary of the Student Board of Directors, a group of outstanding high school seniors who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to community service. We are proud to introduce the following 2011-2012 Student Board members:
KENNETH WILLIAMS, son of Jeannie and Sam Williams, is a senior at Pine Tree High School and serves as senior class treasurer. Kenneth is a member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish club, and BUCS. He is active in theater and serves as president for the International Thespian Society. As a member of the Pride marching band Kenneth received the highest score in both UIL marching competition and solo/ensemble. With the Tex-Jets organization he has participated in Math/Science competition, including TEAMS, the national Test of Engineering Aptitude in Math and Science. Kenneth is a member of, and youth volunteer for, Greggton United Methodist Church. He is undecided on his college choice at this time.
TREVOR JACOBUS is a senior at Longview High School. He is an International Baccalaureate student and a member of the National Honor Society. Trevor is involved in the Spanish club, the Interact club, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He plays on the LOBO varsity football team. Trevor is an Eagle Scout and a member of Order of the Arrow, the national honor society of the Boy Scouts of America. He plans to major in business at either Texas Christian University or the University of Houston. Trevor is a member of Mobberly Baptist Church and has served on mission trips. He is the son of Kathy and Tony Mathis, and Dale Jacobus, Jr.
DOMINICK SCALCO is a senior at Longview High School and is the son of Terese Yates and Joey Scalco. He is a member of the Boy Scouts of America, the National Honor Society, and is involved in the International Baccalaureate program. Dominick is a member of the high school band, the Big Green Marching Machine, and has been in the all-region band for the past three years, the all-area band, and the all-state solo/ensemble. He plans to attend Texas A&M University and major in biology with a future goal of becoming an orthodontist. Dominick’s interests and hobbies include playing the piano, the trumpet, and music in general.
BRIAN MATTHEWS, son of Mary and Carter Matthews, is a senior at Longview High School. He is a Duke Scholar nominee and an International Baccalaureate student. Brian is involved in athletics, playing on the baseball team. As an active member of Saint Matthew’s Catholic Church, Brian volunteers for various programs including vacation bible school and Upward basketball. He has also been involved with the Good Shepherd Hospital Student Volunteer Program. Brian plans to major in engineering and attend The University of Texas at Austin.
NATHAN WOOD is a senior at Pine Tree High School where he serves as president for the senior class; BUCS; Interact club; and the Distributive Education Club of America, District Six. He is co-captain for the Academic Decathlon, vice president for Light the Way, and student chairman for the Pine Tree GREEN Campaign. Nathan is a member of Student Council; the Debate team; SEPT (solar energy at Pine Tree); and serves on the Principal’s Advisory Council. He also runs track and cross country for the Pirates. Nathan plans to attend The University of Texas at Austin and major in accounting. He is involved in the youth group at First Baptist Church and is the son of Michele Hunt Wood.
