The Martin House Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) of Gregg and Harrison Counties is a non-profit organization dedicated to child victims of physical and sexual abuse. Its mission is to ensure that every child that comes to the center has the opportunity to be heard, feel protected, and receive services that are vital to each child’s continued safety and future wellbeing. There they find caring professionals and volunteers dedicated to reducing the trauma they might experience as they go through the court system. The CAC coordinates and investigates each case of alleged child abuse and provides interviews, advocacy, and therapy services that begin the healing of the child and their family. The organization walks hand-in-hand with children and their families from the initial outcry to the final verdict and beyond.
On Saturday, November 9, The Martin House Children’s Advocacy Center will host its second annual Bags, Boots & Bingo fundraiser. This fun-filled event will be held at the East Texas Builders Association Event Center beginning at 1:00 p.m. CAC board of directors chairman, Tim Vaughn, invites the community to come out in support of this worthwhile cause and enjoy an afternoon of bingo, with prizes of designer handbags and beautiful boots. All proceeds raised will benefit the vital programs and services of the Children’s Advocacy Center.
Mr. Vaughn is a dedicated community volunteer and, in addition to his commitment to the CAC, he serves on the board of directors for Longview Regional Medical Center, the East Texas Angel Network, the Longview Chamber of Commerce, the Mayor’s Rail Task Force, and the North East Texas Regional Mobility Authority.
A Longview native, Mr. Vaughn graduated from White Oak High School and earned his bachelor of business administration degree from LeTourneau University. He is self-employed as a builder/developer. Mr. Vaughn and his wife, Dawn, have been married for 15 years and have three adult children and three grandchildren, Blain, 7, Will, 6, and Maddison, 5. The Vaughns are members of Mobberly Baptist Church.
“I enjoy the great quality of life in East Texas and the opportunities that exist in our area,” Mr. Vaughn said. “Investing your time into the community can result in making it an even better place for your family and those you serve.”
