Kevin Deibert may have not grown up in Canton, but today he calls it home. Born in Colby, Kansas, Mr. Deibert moved with his family to Quitman, Texas, when he was a young boy. He went on to graduate from Quitman High School and attend both Stephen F. Austin University and The University of Texas at Austin.
Mr. Deibert became an entrepreneur in 1981 when he opened his first business, a paint company, located in Quitman. Shortly after, he went into the oil business with his father-in-law and worked as a land man until 1985. It was the Fourth of July weekend in 1987 when Mr. Deibert and his family made their move to Canton, for him to take a position with Elliott & Waldron Abstract and Title Company. Two years later, Mr. Deibert left the title company to become a business partner with Lloyd Shinn, Jr., and together the two men opened up their first of three oil and lube centers in Canton. In 1998, Mr. Deibert began managing a convenience store owned by Mr. Shinn in Canton, and in July of 2001, upon Mr. Shinn’s retirement, Mr. Deibert purchased the convenience stores and oil and lube centers, which are now called Mr. D’s. In 2005, he partnered with J.L. Heard to build an additional Mr. D’s oil and lube center in Wills Point, Texas.
Over the years, despite is work schedule, Mr. Deibert has always made time to give back to the community. He is currently the first vice president and director of the Canton Economic Development Corporation, the vice president of finance for the Canton Education Foundation, a member of the Lions Club, and former board member for the Chamber of Commerce. For 12 years, Mr. Deibert also served as president of the advisory board for the Horse Feathers Therapeutic Riding Center.
Aside from his successful working career, Mr. Deibert enjoys traveling with family and friends, playing tennis and golf, and watching baseball. He and his wife Stephanie have three children, Christian, Daniel, and Katelyn, and two grandchildren. The Deiberts are members of Word of Victory Church.
As both a business owner and a citizen of Canton, Mr. Deibert is proud to call Canton “home.” His dedication to our city is why he is leaving a legacy in our community.
