George Ann Reed

Whether serving her church, working with students, or preserving East Texas history, George Ann Reed says that she is passionate about sharing her talents in an effort to have a positive impact on the lives of others.  Mrs. Reed has been an active volunteer in the Tyler community, helping to raise funds for scholarships, symphonic music, cancer research, and art education.

She serves on the Women’s Symphony League and successfully co-chaired the 2009 League Ball.  She is also active with the American Cancer Society, serving on committees for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and the Cattle Barons’ Gala.  Mrs. Reed volunteers with the Tyler Rose Festival and the Tyler Museum of Art, and is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Tyler, Inc. She serves on the historic preservation board for the Tyler City Council and is a University of Texas at Tyler ambassador.

Born in Bryan, Texas, Mrs. Reed has lived in Tyler for 29 years. She and her husband, Chris, are the parents of Adam and Josh. Mrs. Reed is an active member of Christ Episcopal Church. She holds a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in counseling from The University of Texas at Austin.
